Funeral mass is April 1 at Cathedral in Crookston.
David Allen Doda, 44, of Bismarck, North Dakota, and a Crookston, Minnesota native, died unexpectedly in Bismarck on Saturday, March 23, 2013. David was born at Crookston on August 29, 1968, and was the son of Donald and Jean (Sweningson) Doda. He grew up on the family farm in Parnell Township, was baptized and confirmed at St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church at Dorothy, and graduated from Crookston Central High School with the Class of 1986.
He worked on area farms for a few years, and was then employed with Heck Harvesting of Warren, MN, doing custom combining from here to Texas. David later worked for Gerald DeBoer as a welder, building outdoor wood heating stoves, before going to Associated Plumbing and Heating in Crookston, working in the plumbing part of the business. Ten years ago he moved to Bismarck, where he had been employed by Bauer Plumbing and Heating.
His favorite pastimes were fishing on the Missouri River, gardening, and following NASCAR. He will be very loving remembered and sadly missed.
Family members include his parents, Don and Jean Doda of Crookston, MN; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law: Mitch and Deanne Doda of Crookston, Mark and Nancy Doda of Moorhead, MN, Daniel and Diane Doda of Rochester, MN, and Jason and Kelly Doda of Crookston; 9 nieces and nephews: Kelly, Sara, Lauren, Ben, Molly, Rosie, Joey, Jack, and Jacob Doda; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mike and Freda Doda, and Julian and Yvonne Sweningson. May God bless the memory of David Allen Doda.
The Mass of Christian Burial for David Doda will be held at 11:00am, Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with The Rev. Vincent Miller, presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral, with interment to follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Crookston.
