A burglary suspect who took police back to his mobile home to show them items he allegedly stole pulled out a gun and killed himself.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that police took 44-year-old David Doda into custody Saturday afternoon after a woman called to report a burglary. Doda was born and raised in Crookston.

Sgt. Mark Buschena says officers arrived and found Doda coming out of the woman's mobile home.

They interviewed Doda at the police department and he agreed to show them stolen items at his mobile home.

A detective and two patrol officers accompanied Doda to his home. Buschena says as officers searched, Doda pulled out a gun and fatally shot himself in the head.

Buschena says the department will review policies and procedures to determine if anything could have been done differently.
