Some Fargo business owners are giving gift cards to employees who lost their jobs when one of the city's largest employers shut down last week.
PRACS Institute had 316 workers. The company conducted research for the drug, dermatology and cosmetic industries through inpatient and outpatient studies.
The Forum newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/10asbue) that Maxwell's restaurant and Artisan Home Furnishings each offered $50 gift cards to PRACS employees.
Workers at the Fargo company say they were told last week that their jobs were terminated and the firm is headed for bankruptcy.
PRACS Institute founder James Carlson says he is trying to salvage the company, but gave no details.
The company had operated in Fargo for three decades.
