He says he donated the money so he could help people with cancer.

A 10-year-old Grand Forks boy is being honored for his donations to charity.

The Grand Forks Herald reports (http://bit.ly/X2ecu5) that fourth-grader Jak Urlacher has donated $1,000 to charity over five years.

Jak and his donations were recognized during an assembly at his school Friday.

Jak donates annually to Pennies for Patients, a fundraiser that collects spare change from students for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Jak says he donated $50 the first year. The amount has increased each year since. He says he donated the money so he could help people with cancer.

Jak's mother, Angela Harrison-Urlacher, says her son often debated whether to buy something because he worried he wouldn't have enough for the charity.
