  • Sydney Boike is conference co-MVP, Pirates dish out awards

  • The Section 8AA runner-up Pirate girls' basketball team handed out its season awards Tuesday evening at the CHS Commons with sophomore Sydney Boike earning Co-Most Valuable Player of the Northwest Conference.
     
    Seniors Erica Samuelson and Katie Davidson each earned academic all-state. Samuelson, Davidson and senior Taylor Demarais were the captains this past season.
     
    Boike was joined on the all-conference first team by Samuelson and sophomore Danica Brekken. Davidson and sophomore Kenzie Klatt were each all-conference honorable mention.
     
    Brooke Yaggie of Thief River Falls was the co-MVP of the conference with Boike.
     
    Samuelson also received the Best Teammate Award, Co-Karla Johnson Most Dedicated Award and Best Defensive Player Award.
     
    Davidson received the Co-Karla Johnson Most Dedicated Award and the Hustle Award.
     
    Boike received the Most Valuable Player Award, while Brekken was named Most Improved Player. Boike and sophomore Brooke Heggie shared the Best Offensive Player Award.
     
    Senior Kylie Simmons also received the Hustle Award, while sophomore Amber Froeber took home the Coaches Award.
     
    Boike and Brekken were named captains for next season.
