A Crookston resident, her funeral is March 22 in Thief River Falls.

Jill Sandahl Garceau of Crookston, MN, age 40, died on Monday, March 18, 2013, at her mother’s home in Thief River Falls.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 22, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN.

Jill Annette Sandahl was born on June 29, 1972, in Crookston, MN, to Marcia Homstad Sandahl and Gregory Sandahl. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Jill attended Washington Elementary, Franklin Middle School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.

Jill was united in marriage to Brian Garceau in 1994. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Austin. As a stay-at-home mom, Austin was her first priority. Jill worked in her home as a seamstress for Thief River Linen for many years, in addition to operating her and Brian’s candlemaking business, J&B Aromatherapy. When Austin was in high school, Jill returned to school and earned her Associate’s Degree in Health Information Management and Medical Transcription, an accomplishment of which she was very proud.

Jill was hired just out of college as a Medical Transcriptionist at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, a job she dearly loved, and was deeply disappointed when her department was outsourced. Jill recently worked for a short time as Night Auditor at the Seven Clans Casino in Thief River and was to start as a CNA at Greenleaf Assisted Living Facility in Thief River on the day of her death, a job she was so excited to start.

Jill is survived by her husband Brian and son Austin, of Crookston, MN; her mother, Marcia Sandahl and special friend Bob Nelson of Thief River Falls, MN; her father, Gregory Sandahl of Lake Bronson, MN; her brother Brian Sandahl of Brooks, MN; her niece, dear friend and Goddaughter Nicole Sandahl of Thief River Falls, and nephew Tyler Sandahl of Brooks; father-in-law Ken Garceau and special friend Bernie Erickson of Thief River Falls; mother-in-law Sharon Garceau of Crookston; sister-in-law Teri Robbinson and nephews Jordan, Tyreese, and Tayvion of Minneapolis, MN.  Jill will also be missed by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.

Preceding Jill in death are her grandparents, Genevieve and Clifford Homstad and Audrey and Gordon Sandahl; her uncle Milo Homstad and her cousin Tyler Vagle.
Jill was a very beautiful, loving, and sweet person who cared deeply for her family, friends, and coworkers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May her memory be blessed.
