  • UMC Softball falls to Brevard 10-5 in rain-shortened game

  • The Minnesota, Crookston softball team battled rain Monday afternoon and fell to Brevard College 10-5 in Brevard, N.C in a six-inning rain-shortened game. A second game was scheduled to be played on Monday but the game was canceled due to rain. The Golden Eagles fall to 1-4 on the year while the Tornados improve to 11-17 on the season with the win over UMC.
     
    Junior Paige Schaust (OF/P, Delano, Minn.) got the start for the Golden Eagles and went two innings giving up four earned runs on five hits.
     
    Jamie Hrobak got the start for the Tornados and would pick up the win. She went six innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits.
     
    Senior Sara Wiedmaier (1B, Marengo, Ill.) led UMC going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Brevard was led by Miller, who was 2-for-4 with one run and one run batted in while Tucker was 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.
     
    The Golden Eagles will face Young Harris College in a doubleheader today at 3 and 5 p.m.
