  • Crookston will drop to Class AA in football and wrestling will fall back to Class A as the Minnesota State High School League announced its Competitive Section Assignments for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years.

Section assignments are determined by school enrollments (Crookston 274) and activity classifications using the MSHSL's method to determine classification.

Pirate Football will now be one of eight teams in Section 8AA, which includes Badger/Greenbush-Middle River, Bagley, Barnesville, Frazee, Hawley, United North Central and Warroad.

Pirate Wrestling goes back to Section 8A, which it competed in two seasons ago.

All the other Pirate sports remain in the same class with a few adding teams with the most notable being East Grand Forks dropping to Section 8AA in boys' and girls' basketball.
