The Golden Eagle hunt seat and western equestrian teams will be well represented as the post-season moves forward.
The Minnesota, Crookston hunt seat equestrian team finished the season second overall in the High Point Team Standings for Zone 7, Region 3 for the 2012-13 season. The Golden Eagles had 249 points behind the 279 points of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The University of Wisconsin-River Falls finished in third while North Dakota State University was in fourth place in the standings.
The Golden Eagle hunt seat and western equestrian teams will be well represented as the post-season moves forward. The UMC western team has two riders (Caitlin Kelley and Kaytlin Weiger) moving on to the Semifinals which will be held in Moorhead, Ky. March 23-24. The UMC hunt seat team has six riders (Sable Bettencourt, Jessica Charles, Hannah Nedrud, Paige Clark, Annalee Sundin and Denise Thompson) who will compete at the Zone Finals on the campus of West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas April 7. The top two individuals at Semifinals and Zone Finals will move on to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships in Harrisburg, Pa. May 2-5.
The Golden Eagle western and hunt seat teams will combine this weekend to compete in a head-to-head match with the University of Tennessee, Martin in Martin, Tenn., next week. The Golden Eagles will be represented by Kaytlin Weiger (Sr., Duluth, Minn.), Caitlin Kelley (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.), Mitzi Marlin (Jr., Nowthen, Minn.) and Amanda Krueger (Sr., Aberdeen, S.D.) for the western team and Emily Steeley (Fr., Portsmouth, R.I.), Denise Thompson (Jr., Rochester, N.Y.), Sable Bettencourt (Fr., Cloquet, Minn.) and Angela Peterson (Sr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) for the hunt seat team.
