In the United States, it seems as though we can't have a day that is just simply another day in our datebooks.

Holidays are over-taking our calendars. In the United States, it seems as though we can't have a day that is just simply another day in our datebooks. If a prominent, well-known holiday isn't available, do not worry. Someone, somewhere has come up with a wacky way to make the day unique.
Take today for example - March 01, 2013, which may or may not bring us "lion-like" weather, is also:
• Employee Appreciation Day
• National Pig Day
• National Salesperson Day
• Peanut Butter Lover's Day
• Share a Smile Day
• National Dance Teacher Appreciation Day
• National Fruit Compote Day
• World Day of Prayer
Surprised? Concerned you forgot to tell your pet pig how much you adore him? Don't fret.
You can purchase a peanut butter and fruit compote sandwich from a salesperson or any workplace employee (don't forget to tip), smile nicely as you give said sandwich to your pig, say a little prayer for his well-being and bring him to dance class as an appreciation "treat" for your teacher. Who doesn't love a pig in a tutu? Whew! You have officially celebrated March 1st. Are you ready for tomorrow's list?
Obviously, this is a ridiculous scenario, but why can't a day exist without dozens of ways to celebrate it. What happened to good ol' ordinary? Is it necessary to create a "holiday" from "holidays"? Somehow it seems doubtful that there is a day left to place it on. So with that, Happy Holidays to you, no matter what you happen to be celebrating during the next 365 days.
