  • Ada-Borup junior Blake Fetting stole the ball and hit a buzzer-beating jumper from the free throw line to sink the Pirates 64-62 Thursday in Ada.
     
    Crookston led 41-30 at halftime over the 19-3 Ada-Borup Cougars, who have now won seven straight. The Ada-Borup defense clamped down in the second half, though, and held Crookston to 21 points.
     
    Junior post Michael Hefta led the Pirates with 19 points, while senior Travis Vatthauer and sophomore Ryan Porter each had 14 points. Sophomore Aaron Hollcraft scored nine points, while senior Alex Boone added six.
     
    Joel Merkens led Ada-Borup with 20 points, while Fetting finished with 19 and Lance Ruebke added 11.
     
    Former Pirate standout Kenley Wahlin, a 2005 CHS grad, is an assistant coach for Ada-Borup.
     
    The Pirates close out the regular season with two home games against East Grand Forks today and Win-E-Mac Thursday, Feb. 28.
