  • The National Weather Service says the risk of minor flooding at various points along the Souris River this spring is slightly above normal.
    Bismarck-based hydrologist Allen Schlag tells the Minot Daily News  that there will be a lot of water moving through the system, but it will be one-twentieth of the amount that came through Minot in 2011.
    The chance of reaching flood stage at Minot's Broadway Bridge, according to Thursday's outlook, is less than 10 percent.
    Additional snowfall in the coming weeks can significantly alter future outlooks, and spring rainfall is another factor.
    Moisture estimates in the Canadian snowpack range as high as 200 percent of normal, but most of that snowpack is over drainages that do not reach the Souris
