Bittner is looking for “any high school hockey information, especially programs, state tournament information and their history and, particularly, their play in the old ‘Independent Team/School State Hockey Tournament.’”
Pirate head boy’s hockey coach Jon Bittner is in search of some information about the Cathedral and Mount St. Benedict hockey teams.
Bittner is looking for “any high school hockey information, especially programs, state tournament information and their history and, particularly, their play in the old ‘Independent Team/ School State Hockey Tournament.’”
This tournament did not involve the public schools. There was at one time, two high school state tournaments in Minnesota: one for the public schools and one for the religious/private schools. This continued until 1975 when all hockey playing schools in Minnesota were brought under the auspices of the MSHSL which has continued to present day.
“Doug Johnson, the owner of ‘Let's Play Hockey’ contacted me as he and his staff are putting this together and he wished to have information from Crookston Cathedral/MSB.”
Any information or copies of information can be sent to me (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I will forward all of this to Doug at Let"s Play Hockey. I believe we should have this done by March 1 if that is possible.
“Thanks so much for getting this out to the public,” Bittner said. “It is a great time to ‘re-live’ some of the great memories and history of both the days of the ‘Independent’ state tournament and Crookston hockey history. Thanks to everyone out there, in advance, for your help!”
