He waited to see if he received a second job offer.

Phillip Barton has accepted the City of Crookston’s offer to be the city’s new information technology director, and will start on March 11.

That’s the word from City Administrator Tony Chladek. Barton, one of three interviewed for the job, tentatively accepted the offer last week, but he wanted to see if he was going to be offered another job first. Chladek said Barton, the son of longtime Crookston residents Claudia and Larry Barton (since retired and now living in California), will be paid $50,000 a year to start, with the potential to be up to $58,000 by 2015.

Barton succeeds Tom Lindo, who resigned to take another job.
