  • The Golden Eagles dropped a pair of road games Friday and Saturday to Mary (80-56) and Minot State (67-65), respectively.
     
    The losses drop Minnesota, Crookston to 7-17 on the season and 4-16 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. It will close out the regular season Friday and Saturday at home against St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth.

    Mary raced out of the gates to a quick lead over Minnesota, Crookston en route to an 80-56 win over the Golden Eagles Friday in Bismarck, N.D. Mary used hot shooting and made 13 threes to take down the Golden Eagles. In addition, Marauder point guard Ali Collins tallied a rare triple-double on the game with ten points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists. The Marauders improve to 16-9 (11-8 NSIC).
     
    The Golden Eagles were led by freshman forward Katrina Moenkedick (Perham, Minn.), who tallied her first-ever double-double at UMC with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Brittani Wiese (Albertville, Minn.) added ten points on 3-of-7 shooting for the game, while freshman guard Alexa Thielman (Buffalo, Minn.) came off the bench for eight points with two made three-pointers.
     
    Collins led the veteran group of Mary players to victory, which included three other players who tallied double figures on the game. Shaunna Knife added 16 points and six rebounds, while Brittney Dietz came off the bench for 16 points and five rebounds. Taylor Luke rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points and three threes. Kelsey Peltier added nine points on three threes. The Marauders finished the game shooting 30-of-67 from the field and 44.8 percent and were 13-of-31 for 41.9 percent from trey. Mary out-rebounded UMC 55-43.

    The Golden Eagles led by seven points with six minutes remaining Saturday but a Sacarra Molina lay-up would seal Minot State's comeback victory as the Beavers won 67-65 over the Golden Eagles in Minot, N.D. Minot State improves to 12-12 (8-12 NSIC) with the victory. The Golden Eagles defeated the Beavers 66-46 in Crookston on Dec. 14.
     
    The Golden Eagles were led on the night by Wiese, who tallied 12 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Ashley Martell (Somerset, Wis.) added 13 points. Sophomore guard Christine Thorn (St. Michael, Minn.) chipped in eight points off the bench for UMC. The Golden Eagles finished the game shooting 21-of-63 for 33.3 percent from the field and 8-of-29 for 27.6 percent from three-point range. UMC out-rebounded Minot State by the tune of 48 to 41 led by 14 rebounds from Golden Eagle career leading rebounder Laurie Tyson (Sr., C, Rosemount, Minn.).
     
    Minot State was willed by an amazing showing as Carly Boag would finish with 33 points and 20 boards for the game while shooting 11-of-17 from the field and 11-of-13 from the charity stripe. Molina chipped in nine points for the Beavers, who finished Saturday shooting 23-of-62 from the field for 37.1 percent and 4-of-15 for 26.7 percent from beyond the arch.
