The Pirates earned a key Section 8AA victory Saturday, beating Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 71-65 with sophomore Sydney Boike leading the way with 16 points.
Crookston took a 46-30 lead into halftime and survived the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels' comeback in the second half. The Rebels outscored the Pirates 35-25 in the second half.
Sophomore Brooke Heggie added 14 points for Crookston, while senior Katie Davidson had ten points, sophomore Danica Brekken scored eight, senior Erica Samuelson added seven and senior Kylie Simmons put up six points.
Sierra Senske led Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton with 17 points, while Katie Highness added 15.
The Pirates improve to 6-1 against section opponents and are 17-5 on the season. They are No. 8 in the latest QRF rankings.
Crookston was scheduled to host Win-E-Mac tonight but the game has been cancelled. The 21-1 Patriots were undefeated this season until losing to Ada-Borup Friday 68-47 in Ada.
