  • Girls' basketball: TRF avenges 1 of its 2 losses, tops Pirates 66-56

  • Thief River Falls avenged one of its two losses this season Thursday with a 66-56 victory over Crookston in Thief River Falls. The Pirates won 62-61 on Dec. 20 in Crookston.
     
    The Prowlers, ranked No. 8 in Class AAA, are now 22-2 on the season.
     
    Sophomore Brooke Heggie recorded 12 points, leading the Pirates on the night. Sophomore Danica Brekken added eight points, while sophomores Sydney Boike and Kenzie Klatt each had seven points.
     
    Madison Brekke led the Prowlers with 14 points, while Brooke Yaggie added seven.
     
    Thief River Falls went into halftime with a 12-point lead and hung on in the second half as Crookston outscored it 33-31.
     
    The Pirates dropped to 16-5 on the season and will host Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Saturday. The opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
