Considering the recent weather conditions Crookston has been experiencing, it's very fitting that this week is "Snowfest" Week at Crookston High School.
With classes cancelled on Monday, the week will kick off with Jersey Day where students wear the jersey of their favorite athlete. On Wednesday, an all new dress-up day will be introduced to the school; Mustache Day. Fake or real, all facial hair is encouraged on Wednesday. As a fundraiser for the Leo Club, for just a dollar, students and faculty members will have the opportunity to wear a hat in school.
Just in time for Valentine's Day on Thursday, which is also Throwback Day, students who filled out a Matchmaker form earlier this month will be able to buy their completed forms, which will reveal which classmates they are most compatible with. Matchmaker results can be bought from the student council for $2 during any of the three lunch hours.
Also on Thursday, the Leo Club will be delivering heart shaped cookies throughout the school to celebrate Valentine's Day. Students were given the chance to buy cookies for a dollar to have sent to their friends, hoping to receive a cookie of their own in return.
On Friday, students will dress for "Lazy Day" with the intent of looking like they just got out of bed. As always, Friday will be a shortened day with a pep fest followed by activities such as volleyball, dodgeball, study hall and karaoke being held in the afternoon.
The main event of the week, the Snowfest Dance, will be held Friday evening from 9 p.m. to midnight in the high school commons. For $10 9th-12th graders will be able to enjoy a night of dancing and entertainment DJed by the Undertakers.
To wrap up Snowfest week, Student Council will be holding this year's Mr. CHS competition in the high school auditorium at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17. Members of the community are welcome to take in an afternoon of entertainment with performances from a few of the high school's senior boys as they put on the Justin Bieber themed 2013 Mr. CHS talent show.
