  • Given the recent weather around these parts, it’s fitting that the latest Crookston Community Theatre production, “Almost, Maine” takes place on a mid-winter’s night in northern Maine.
The play premieres in Crookston in the high school auditorium on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, and continues on Feb. 15-16. The curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. each evening.
General admission is $12. Adults thinking of bringing kids are advised that the play includes “some adult themes.”
“Almost, Maine” is described as the story of anyone who has ever fallen in love, or fallen out of love – and lived to tell about it.
The story by John Cariani, with an original score by Julian Fleisher, “gives us a glimpse into the lives of the characters” that Cariani describes as “just ordinary people doing the most difficult thing of all – learning how to love.”
“Almost, Maine” unfolds over two acts and tells the story of nine couples. The cast features 11 actors who play multiple roles. Cast members include Dylan Kaste, Gareth McNichol-Briggs, Lela Olson, Ian MacRae, Colleen MacRae, Beth Waxler, Andrew Svec, Meredith Wentzel, Aryanna Ostgaard, Tyler Lowthian and Brooke Hamilton.
The play is produced in part by a grant from the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council, and is presented by special arrangement w ith Dramatist’s Play Service, Inc. of New York.
