Police report says Cortez admitted to crimes when interviewed by police.

A man is in custody at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center, facing multiple charges related to two alleged sexual assaults at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston.

Jason Cortez is charged with fifth degree criminal sexual conduct, tampering with a witness, terroristic threats, false imprisonment and fifth degree assault. According to information provided by the Crookston Police Department, Cortez admitted to both incidents in an interview with the CPD on Feb. 5.

The investigation started on Feb. 3, when the CPD responded to the report of a sexual assault at the Villa. An officer met with the victim, a 29-year-old female, as well as the Villa's director of nursing. The victim reported two incidents, one inside the Villa on Sunday, Feb. 3 and one previously in the Villa parking lot, on Nov. 30, 2012.  The Feb. 3 incident is described as a sexual assault and the Nov. 30 incident is described as a misdemeanor assault and terroristic threat that occurred in a linen room inside the Villa.

Crookston Police Chief Tim Motherway said the CPD believes that at no time were any of the residents or staff at the Villa St. Vincent in any danger.
