Officials in Burleigh and Morton counties who seized 157 horses from a New Salem man because of alleged neglect have requested a court hearing on whether the man can adequately care for the animals.
The horses were seized after authorities found 99 dead horses on the man's property in the two counties. Two of the rescued horses have since died.
The man has not been criminally charged.
The Bismarck Tribune (http://bit.ly/VJF9SF ) reports that if a judge deems the man incapable of caring for the horses they will be sold, adopted or euthanized.
