  • Anthony DeHaan, 77, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Hillcrest Senior Living.
        Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 3:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Chuck Huck Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Red Lake Falls, MN.
        Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday only.
        Anthony “Tony” DeHaan was born March 29, 1935 at Red Lake Falls son of the late John and Gertrude (Perrin) DeHaan. He was raised near Red Lake Falls and attended rural school until its closing then attended St. Joseph Catholic School. Tony entered the US Army and served his country from December 8, 1954 until his honorable discharge on December 6, 1957.
        On April 11, 1958 Tony was united in marriage to Margaret Reimer in Wilmette, IL. The couple lived in Chicago, IL and worked for Nabisco/Borden’s at their tape factory. In 1984 Tony moved back to Red Lake Falls where he resided until 2006 when his health forced him to move to Riverview Nursing Home in Crookston where he lived until moving to Hillcrest Senior Living October 1, 2012.
        Tony enjoyed his coffee time and visiting with his friends, he enjoyed playing bingo, white elephant sales and van rides around the countryside. He also enjoyed coin collecting and wondering around Walmart visiting with people. He was a member of the Thief River Falls Legion Club, the Moose Lodge when he lived in Chicago and served on the Riverview Resident Council board.
        He is survived by his two sons William (Valerie) O’Conner of Lakeville, MN; Daniel O’Conner of Ottumwa, IA; three grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren: brothers and sister Martin (Bernadette) DeHaan of Red Lake Falls, MN; Gerard (Gerry)  (Betty) DeHaan of Thief River Falls, MN; Jacob Henry (Barbara) DeHaan of Red Lake Falls, MN and Elaine “Sis” Boucher of Crookston, MN along with many nieces and nephews.
        Tony is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Margaret LeDoux and Catherine Roberts; brothers John DeHaan, Joseph DeHaan and infant brother Robert and two grandsons
