The Pirates earned a couple of much-needed wins on the road this weekend, beating Hastings 7-3 and Red Wing 2-1.

The Pirates improve to 11-12 on the season and will travel to Baudette Friday to face Lake of the Woods in a Section 8A game. The regular season finishes Tuesday, Feb. 12 when Red Lake Falls comes to Crookston for a 7 p.m. game.

The Pirates scored four goals in the third period to earn the victory.
Epema recorded 25 saves for the victory, while Matt Radke had 26 saves in net for Hastings.
Senior Connor Morgan started the scoring at the 3:39 mark of the first period with his eighth goal of the season on an assist from senior defenseman Cam Leas. Senior Kyle Proulx made it 2-0 at 11:03 with his second of the season on an assist from Mercil.
Mark Huneke put Hastings on the board with 1:20 left in the first period. Then, at 1:11 of the second period Andrew Bussey brought Hastings within one with a power play goal.
Bittner kept the Crookston lead intact with his 13th of the season with 19 seconds left on assists from Heppner and Edevold. Bittner then got his 14th goal 21 seconds into the third period on an assist from Heppner to make it 4-2.
Mikey Junker brought Hastings within one again with a goal at the 5:34 mark but the Pirates finished the game strong.
Junior defenseman Kal Salentiny got his first of the season at 7:30 with an assist from Mercil. Senior forward Alex Clauson then scored at 10:48 with his second of the season and Mercil closed out the scoring with 1:11 left with his fourth of the season.

The Pirates scored two in the first period and that's all Epema would need as he recorded 21 saves, including 11 in the third period, for the win.
Preston Blaney had 34 saves for Red Wing.
Heppner notched his 22nd of the season with 3:47 left in the first period and Edevold got his 14th of the season with 1:11 left in the first on a power play goal assisted by junior defenseman Justin Cameron.
There wasn't another goal scored for more than 30 minutes until Dylan Goggin got Red Wing on the board with 33 seconds left in the third period but the Pirates would hang on.
