  • Students were allowed to go back to class after a boiler explosion forced the evacuation of an elementary school in south Minneapolis.
School officials say the boiler exploded around 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Lake Harriet Upper Elementary School.
KSTP-TV reports students were evacuated to a nearby fire station, and were later allowed to return to class. The Minneapolis Fire Department says more than 300 children were brought to the station a block away from the school until officials determined the situation was safe and under control.
    No one was hurt.
A Minneapolis Public Schools spokeswoman tells the Star Tribune the explosion released some smoke and steam but apparently there was no fire. She says the boiler has been repaired.
