Unity Walk ends at Empire Arts Center.
The public is invited to the first area-wide Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration taking place in Grand Forks on Monday, Jan. 21, an event made possible by a partnership between the University of Minnesota, Crookston and University of North Dakota.
The activities begin at 11 a.m. with a Unity Walk from Central High School to the Empire Arts Center. A program begins at noon in the Empire Arts Center with UMC Chancellor Fred Wood bringing greetings on behalf of the U of M, Crookston. Following the program, there will be a community social and refreshments will be served. The day’s activities are free and everyone is welcome to attend. The Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration is hosted by the Era Bell Thompson Multicultural Center at the University of North Dakota (UND) in partnership with the U of M, Crookston Office of Diversity Programs, the Grand Forks Air Force Base, UND’s Black Student Association, the U of M, Crookston Black Student Association and others.
