Junior Brady Heppner exploded for five goals Tuesday as the Pirates displayed the offensive firepower everyone knew they had in a 9-0 drubbing of Detroit Lakes in Crookston.

Heppner put up four goals in the first period at 2:12, 13:47, 14:11 and 16:59. Senior Curtis Regan scored his fourth of the season at the 9:38 mark of the first period.
Senior Ryan Edevold made it 6-0 23 seconds into the second period, while junior Zach Sanders scored his first of the season with 1:50 left and senior Alex Clauson got his first of the season just 30 seconds later.
Heppner scored the lone goal of the third period, his 18th of the season, at the 4:06 mark.
Edevold and senior Ryan Bittner each had three assists, while Heppner and junior Justin Cameron each had two.
Crookston is now 8-9 on the season and will go on the road Tuesday, Jan. 22 to face Warroad, who beat the Pirates last Saturday 3-1 in Crookston.
