The new year has not been kind to the Pirates, who are averaging 1.75 goals in four games. The latest offensive struggle happened Saturday at home in a 3-1 loss to Warroad.
The Warriors posted a 3-0 lead after two periods and fended off the Pirates in the third with senior Ryan Edevold scoring his ninth goal of the season at the nine-minute mark of the third.

Jared Bethune put Warroad on the board at the 12:19 mark of the first period, while Kyle Sylvester scored at 7:09 of the second and Casey Anderson made it 3-0 about three and a half minutes later.
The fifth consecutive loss drops Crookston to 7-9 on the season. It won't have to wait long for another shot at the Warriors as they travel to Warroad Tuesday, Jan. 22. Before that, though, the Pirates host Detroit Lakes Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
