  • A Minnetrista family is among those in Minnesota caught up in Russia's new law banning Americans from adopting Russian children.
John and Renee Thomas have been working to adopt the younger biological brother of their son Jack. Four-year-old Nikoly remains in a Russian orphanage. John Thomas tells KARE-TV (http://kare11.tv/TV5olN ) "a lot of this is just politics" and they're "stuck in the middle."
Sen. Amy Klobuchar met with adoptive families Sunday and promised to take their stories and photos to the Senate floor.
In Russia Sunday, up to 20,000 people marched through Moscow to protest the new law. An adoption deal with the U.S. will remain valid until 2014, but no new adoptions will be permitted and only those already cleared by Russian courts before the ban will be allowed.
