Rural Polk County residents have until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 to file for their township's offices. Up for election in each township this year are one supervisor for a three-year term and treasurer, a two-year term.
Those interested in filing should contact their township clerk. There is a $2 filing fee.
The election will be held at the annual meeting, which is the second Tuesday in March, or in case of inclement weather, a week later. Absentee ballots are also available by contacting township clerks. Voters must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the township for 30 days on the date of the meeting.
If you don't know who your township clerk is or where the meetings are held, contact Polk County Director of Property Records Michelle Cote's office at 281-3464.
