The Polk County Board of Commissioners kicked off their new year of meetings first thing Tuesday morning with Judge Jeff Remick swearing in the three members elected in November, newcomer Nick Nicholas and incumbents Craig Buness and Don Diedrich. Buness was also elected chairman of the board for 2013, with Diedrich as vice chair. Then it was down to business.
Michelle Cote, director of property records, came before the board with an agreement for services with Mapping Solutions for the printing of new Polk County plat books. The board approved the agreement at a cost of $21 per book. Information will be taken from the county's current GIS records.
The last plat books for the county came out in late 2009, but Cote said there is great interest from residents, businesses and others for more updated information.
"You'd be surprised at how much has changed and with all the new technology, we're able to provide more accurate information," said Cote.
The books will be available for sale to the public once they're published.
Cote also received approval for lamination and covers for six grantor/grantee index books in the amount of $7,599.
Note: Other topics from Tuesday's full day meeting will be detailed later this week.
