  • The Pirates earned a convincing 68-48 win over Section 8AA North rival Warroad Thursday on the road. Pirate sophomore Sydney Boike recorded a game-high 15 points to lead Crookston.
     
    At halftime the Pirates led 30-21 and then pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Warriors 38-27.
     
    Senior Kylie Simmons and sophomore Brooke Heggie each had nine points, while sophomore Kenzie Klatt had seven points.
     
    Krista Friesner had 12 points for Warroad, while Molly McDonald had 11 and Sadie Stoskopf had ten.
     
    The Pirates improve to 7-2 on the season and will host Breckenridge today at 7:30 p.m.
     
    Crookston is ranked No. 5 in Class AA by Minnesota-Scores.net, but is unranked in the latest Associated Press poll.
