Allen Francis Girodat, age 82, Crookston, died Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013 at Riverview Health in Crookston.
Allen was born on February 8, 1930 in Mt. Carmel, ND, son of Frank and Loretta (Barnard) Girodat. He grew up and was educated at Mt. Carmel. He was united in marriage with Lorraine Hoffarth on November 18, 1959 at Langdon, ND. They moved to Grand Forks, where they lived until five years ago, when they moved to Crookston. While living in Grand Forks, Allen worked for Consolidated Construction and for a short time at Thief River Falls. He worked at Ellertsons, where he worked for 26 years. He worked for Fuglebergs and then with Valley until his retirement in 1993.
Allen collected John Deere Tractors, enjoyed doing crossword and word-find puzzles. The family enjoyed camping at Maple Lake in Polk County and at Mt. Carmel, ND on the Fourth of July holiday. He also built model farm houses for the kids to play with and around. He loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife: Lorraine of Crookston; son: Shane (Alisan) Girodat of Crookston; daughter: Renee (Richard) Voss of Crookston; four grandsons: Brandon Gartna, Bradley Gartna, Devin Girodat and Connor Girodat; two granddaughters: Shayla Girodat and Haley Voss; three sisters: Dolores Hoffarth of Langdon, Grace Hoffarth of Grand Forks, and Fern (Walter) Simonson of St. Paul; and many nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Loretta Girodat; and brothers: Matthias and Cliff Girodat.
The memorial mass for Allen Francis Girodat will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, January 9th, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston with visitation for one hour before the service.
