  • OBITUARY: Clifford and Eva Vevea

  • Clifford L. Vevea, age 93, of Crookston, died Sunday morning, December 30th, 2012 at the Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND.  Eva Maria Vevea, age 90, of Crookston, died Sunday evening, December 30th, 2012 at the Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND.
     
    Cliff Vevea was born on December 19, 1919 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, son of Louis and Sophia (Haggen) Vevea.  He grew up and was educated at Thief River Falls and worked at Oens Appliance in Thief River Falls as a sales clerk.  He was drafted into the US Army and served in the Philippines.  Following his discharge he returned to his job at Oens.  He was united in marriage with Eva M. Larsen on July 11, 1947 in Thief River Falls.  They made their home in Thief River Falls.  In 1964, they moved to Crookston, where he worked as a clerk with Job Service until retiring in 1985.
     
    Eva Larsen was born on November 14, 1922 in Red Lake County, Minnesota on the family farm, daughter of John and Christine Larsen.  She grew up and was educated in Red Lake County and graduated from Plummer High School.  She worked as a billing clerk at Mobil Oil in Thief River Falls, MN.  She was united in marriage with Clifford L. Vevea on July 11, 1947 in Thief River Falls.  They made their home in Thief River Falls and she continued to work at Mobil Oil.  In 1964, she and Cliff moved to Crookston, where she worked at the ASCS office as a clerk and later as supervisor before retiring in 1984.  Eva enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening.
     
    The couple loved dancing and was featured once in the Grand Forks Herald.  They enjoyed working on their home and their yard continually updating the interior and exterior of their home.
     
    Cliff and Eva are survived by their son: Kip (Judy) Vevea of Bemidji; grandchildren: Devin (Darlene) Vevea of Bemidji, Shari Vanasse of Phoenix, and Kippy (Henry) Knoblouch of Bemidji; eight great grandchildren: Kacie, Cody, Ashli, Talon, Tyler, Laney, Jacy & Kaidyn; two great great-grandchildren: Troy & Peityn.
     
    Clifford was preceded in death by his parents: Louis & Sophia Vevea; four sisters: Marie, Stella, Louise & Lucille; three brothers: Willis, Clarence & Lloyd.  Eva was preceded in death by her parents: John & Christine Larsen; two brothers: Harold Larsen & Helge Larsen.
     
    The funeral service for Cliff and Eva Vevea will be held at 10:30 AM, on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Crookston, Pastor Michelle Miller officiating.  Visitation will be for one hour before services at the church.  Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls at 2 PM, on Saturday, January 5th, 2013.
