  • Girls' basketball: Pirates drop opener, rebound for win in Annandale Tournament

  • Crookston, ranked No. 10 in Class AA coming into the tournament, are now 6-2 on the season and will travel to Warroad Thursday, Jan. 3 before hosting Breckenridge Friday, Jan. 4.

  • The Pirates got off to a slow start to the Annandale Holiday Tournament Friday, trailing Chatfield 27-16 at halftime, and lost the opener 56-50 but rebounded Saturday to beat Eden Valley-Watkins 63-41.
     
    Crookston, ranked No. 10 in Class AA coming into the tournament, are now 6-2 on the season and will travel to Warroad Thursday, Jan. 3 before hosting Breckenridge Friday, Jan. 4.
     
    CHS vs. Chatfield
    In the second half Crookston outscored Chatfield 34-29 but couldn't overcome its 11-point deficit in the first half.
     
    Sophomore Sydney Boike led the Pirates with 17 points, while sophomore Brooke Heggie had ten points and senior Erica Samuelson had six.
     
    MaKenzie Miller and Kirsten Keefe led Chatfield with 11 points each.
     
    CHS vs. EV-W
    The Pirates led Eden Valley-Watkins to just 12 first-half points, leading 25-12 at halftime, and cruised to a 22-point victory.
     
    Heggie posted a game-high 28 points, while Boike added 11 and Samuelson had six again.
     
    Missy Kummet, Greta Stommes and Dani Nelson each had eight points to lead Eden Valley-Watkins.
