  • Boys' basketball: Pirates come up short of Flyers, 58-52

  • The Pirates were nipped by Section 8AA North rival Bagley Tuesday 58-52 in Bagley. Sophomore Aaron Hollcraft had 17 points to lead the Pirates.
     
    The Bagley Flyers led 25-22 at halftime and outscored Crookston 33-30 in the second half to hang on for the win.
     
    Backing up Hollcraft's 17 points was senior Alex Boone with 14 points and sophomore Ryan Porter with 11.
     
    Marcus Malterud led Bagley with 21 points, while Brady Laudon and Riley Knutson each had ten points.
     
    Falling to 3-2 on the season, the Pirates will travel to Pelican Rapids Thursday to face the Vikings, who are 4-1 and ranked No. 4 in Class AA.
