Pirate senior Brianna Breiland continued her torrid scoring pace Friday with four goals to lead the Pirates in a 6-3 win over Fergus Falls on the road.
Breiland, now with 24 goals in nine games this season, has the second most goals in the state, two behind Red Wing's Nicole Schammel. Breiland now has ten goals in her last three games.
Junior Sidney Erickson earned the victory in goal for the Pirates with 12 saves.
Crookston is now 5-4 on the season.
Breiland put the Pirates up 1-0 in the first period with a shorthanded goal about three minutes in.
Breiland made it 2-0 at 4:01 of the second period on an assist from junior Brooke Schmitz. And a little more than four minutes later, on a power play, freshman Tori Demarais made it 3-0 with her first goal of the season on assists from Breiland and Schmitz.
Fergus Falls got on the board with 3:16 left in the second period on a goal by Lauren Norgen.
Breiland made it 4-1 with 2:45 left on assists from junior Claire Conati and Demarais.
Stephanie Kolstad finished the second period scoring for Fergus Falls with 35 seconds left to make it 4-2.
Senior Natasha Skala got her second goal of the season 32 seconds into the third period on assists from Conati and Breiland. Breiland then made it 6-2 with another shorthanded goal at the 2:30 mark of the third.
Kolstad finished the scoring at 8:43 of the third.
Crookston finished 1 for 3 on the power play, while Fergus Falls was 0 for 7.
The Pirates will travel to Moorhead Tuesday to face the Spuds before hosting East Grand Forks Thursday. The puck drops Thursday at 5:30 p.m. with the boys' teams to follow.
