Colton Weiland & Blake Bergeron - Wrestling
Head coach Chad Hitchen says, “Colton is a seventh grader wrestling varsity to start out the year. Colton had a great week by winning the 113-pound weight class at the Rodd Olson Invitational as a sixth seed. He also had a big pin in our dual with Grand Forks Red River.

“Blake just joined the Franklin club on Tuesday night with his 100th career wins  and now had 101. He is also coming off another great weekend in which he won the 160-pound weight class at the Rodd Olson Invitational. Blake has been one of our leaders to go to when we need a win. There are great things to come from Blake as the season moves on.”

    Alex Boone - Boys' Basketball
Head coach Greg Garmen says, “Alex has been one of our leaders the past two games. He does a little bit of everything for the Pirates from handling the ball to defending the opposition’s quickest player to rebounding. Alex will be a key factor in the Pirates’ success this season.”

    Brooke Schmitz - Girls' Hockey
Assistant coach Jaclyn Martin says, “Brookie is off to a great start this year and is also leading the team in assists. For most of this season, she’s been on our top line and is definitely one of our go-to forwards in key situations. Brooke plays her position well, moves to open areas, and lets her teammates know where she’s at. An important part of hockey is communication and I’d say Brookie is one of the best communicators on the team. She’s loud on the ice and is always very positive on the bench. Brooke’s also a very hard worker and a great kid to be around! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for her.”

Kylie Simmons & Kaylee Desrosier - Girls' Basketball
Head coach Lon Boike says, “Kylie scored nine points and played very well defensively in a 85-48 win vs. Stephen-Argyle last week. The senior has been playing both the guard and post spot for the Pirates this year and has been doing a very good job filling in on both spots. Kylie also plays tennis in the fall and golfs in the spring!

“Kaylee scored ten points and had ten rebounds in our recent win at Stephen-Argyle. She has been shooting the ball very well and is a strong rebounder on the boards as well. Kaylee, a senior, also plays volleyball and softball.”

Nick Page & Mitch Wright - Boys' Hockey
Head coach Jon Bittner says, “Nick is in his first year of playing high school hockey and has made the transition into the game. He is working hard to improve and gain valuable experience just ‘playing’ in this his rookie season. He has shown great growth and enthusiasm for this season.

“Mitch Wright scored a goal against Red Lake Falls this past Monday and is doing an excellent job in his position with the Pirates. He works hard, is developing his skills and is seeing success as a result of his efforts. His leadership is also essential for the locker room and on his team.”
