  •     The Northwest Minnesota Multi-County Housing and Redevelopment Authority was recently awarded $292,500 by the Federal Home Loan bank of Des Moines for their commitment in helping individuals and families secure safe affordable housing. Through a partnership with the Home Loan bank, the HRA will be able to rehabilitate affordable housing units in the communities it serves.
The Home Loan Bank's affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants provide the HRA an added opportunity to help families in the northwest MN region that are in critical need of housing rehabilitation. The funds will provide rehabilitation cost assistance to homeowners in our northwest MN 8 county area.
The affordable housing program is a catalyst for community development and positively impacts the quality of life for individuals and families residing in our five state Des Moines district and beyond. The program strengthens communities, transforms neighborhoods and provides housing opportunities for low-to-moderate income families.
If you meet the income and program guidelines and are in need of rehabilitation of your home contact the HRA by calling 637-2435, email tina@nwmnhra.org or ken@nwmnhra.org for more information. You can learn more at nwmnhra.org.
The affordable housing program is a competitive grant program. The Unity Bank North Red Lake Falls, MN partnered with the HRA to compete for the Federal Loan Bank's AHP grants. Designated projects are awarded for low-income, single family and multi-family rental or homeownership initiatives that provide affordable housing opportunities for persons at or below 80 percent of the state median income.
