  •     It's that time of the year again to prepare and deliver Christmas Care Baskets. Volunteers are needed for this critical community outreach event, and if interested, you should come to the Crookston National Guard Armory on Friday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. to help pack the boxes. Helping hands will also be needed to distribute the boxes from the Armory on Saturday morning, Dec. 15 starting at 8:30 a.m.
Last year, Christmas care food baskets were provided to 305 families and individuals in the Crookston community who are finding it hard to make ends meet during the holidays. With that many homes receiving Christmas Care Baskets, the more volunteers the Armory can get, the better.
Along with volunteers, donations for the boxes are always needed and can be dropped off in the office at Trinity Lutheran Church or mailed to P.O. Box 598, Crookston, MN 56716. Boxes are also located at the entrances to the church where you can leave non-perishable food items now through Dec. 12. Monetary donations can also be made to purchase additional food items for the baskets.
If you know of someone who needs a basket, or if you need one for yourself, call the church office at 281-4276. Calls will be taken until Monday, Dec. 10.
