Pirates of the Week are submitted by the coaches. See Wednesday's Times for color photos of the Pirates.
Brianna Breiland - Girls' Hockey
Assistant coach Jaclyn Martin says, “Brianna Breiland is a senior captain for the Pirates. She has started out this season very strong with 14 goals and two assists in just five games. Brianna has unbelievable hockey sense and knows where to put the puck, whether it be in the back of the net or a tape to tape pass to a teammate. She’s shown us that she can be a leader on and off the ice and we’ll continue to look for her to do so. Brianna is a remarkable student-athlete and any team we play this season will see her as a big threat.”
Brooke Heggie & Sydney Boike - Girls' Basketball
Head Coach Lon Boike says, “Brooke had ten points, eight rebounds and two assists and Sydney scored 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the game one opening win vs. Moorhead on Tuesday night. Both girls played very well for the opening game and will be counted upon heavily this season for the #10 ranked Pirates. Brooke and Sydney are both sophomores and are multiple sport athletes at CHS!”
Montell Tate - Boys' Hockey
Head Coach Jon Bittner says, “Montell played his first varsity hockey game against RLF and played well. He moved the puck, backed up his partner, was physical and very coachable. As a sophomore, we look for big things to come from him and his development over this season and the years to come."
Kal Salentiny - Boys' Hockey
Head Coach Jon Bittner says, “Kal Salentiny, as a junior defenseman, stepped up his play and leadership in the game against RLF. He recorded two points in the game, was physical, jumped into the offensive play and took command of his position defensively, supporting his partners. Kal is a great kid and also very coachable.”
