It's more than halfway to this year's goal.
Crookston’s Toys for Tots campaign for the 2012 holiday season is well underway, with monetary donations of $3,200 already received. The organization's goal is to raise $5,000 to provide toys for children in need throughout the community.
Employees from the water and fire departments, along with the fire department auxiliary, have sponsored the program for more than 30 years. The water department handles the donations, with the auxiliary shopping for gifts. While toys are accepted, cash donations are preferred so they can shop for items to match the age and gender of recipients.
Santa and his helpers from the fire department will deliver the goody packages starting early Christmas Eve morning.
Donations can be sent to 124 N. Broadway, Crookston, MN 56716 or brought to the water department during business hours at city hall. Call 281-1232 to get a family on the list.
