Minnesota, Crookston fell 66-50 to Valley City State Tuesday at W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse in Valley City, N.D. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-2 during the exhibition season and will open the regular-season Friday at 6 p.m. against Presentation College at Lysaker Gymnasium.
Brandon Burns (Jr., F, Baton Rouge, La.), who led the team in the exhibition Friday against Gustavus Adolphus College, again led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 12 points against the Vikings. Burns was five-of-nine on the night. Almir Krdzalic (Sr., G, Sioux Falls, S.D.) added 11 points and was five-of-11 on the night. Krdzalic led the team with six rebounds while Abdou Niang (Sr., F, Dakar, Senegal) tallied five boards. James Sparkman (R-Jr., F, Ypsilanti, Mich.) added seven points. The Golden Eagles were 11-of-23 on the night for a percentage of 47.8 percent.
Valley City State was led by four players with double-figure scoring. Gus Koeber paced the Vikings with 18 points. Aaron Duske added 13 points while Sekani Milligen chipped in 13. A.J. McDonald added 12 on the night. Valley City State shot 11-of-20 for 55 percent on the night. Dillan Ostrom, Koeber, McDonald and Milligen all had six rebounds on the night.
