  • Steelers win Youth NFL Super Bowl, will be honored at UMC football game at Alerus

  • The Golden Eagle athletic teams all came out in support of the two Youth NFL Football teams as they battled for the Super Bowl crown.

  • The Steelers defeated the Chiefs 38-18 in the U of M, Crookston’s Youth NFL Flag Football Super Bowl VI Monday night at Ed Widseth Field. The Steelers, a team from Fertile, Minn., earned the league title over 10 other teams that had representatives from 15 towns in the area surrounding Crookston. The Steelers were coached by baseball player Jeremiah Friday (So., Rush City, Minn.) and football player Richard Haley (Sr., Detroit, Mich.)
     
    The Golden Eagle athletic teams all came out in support of the two Youth NFL Football teams as they battled for the Super Bowl crown. The event is one of UMC’s biggest community-engagement events during the 2012-13 season.
     
    The Steelers will receive their trophies during half-time of this Saturday’s UMC football game at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, N.D. against University of Mary. After the half-time presentation of trophies, a pizza party will be thrown for the team in one of the rooms off of the football field. All members of the Steelers will get into the game free Saturday. All questions regarding this weekend should be directed Natasha Reierson at 281-8423.
