He ends career with 88th place finish out of 175.

Crookston senior Andreas Geist posted a personal best Saturday at the State Class A Cross Country Meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.

Geist, running with the East Grand Forks team this season, finished the 5,000-meter course in 88th place of 175 with a time of 17:19. Temperatures were in the 40s with a few snowflakes and a calm wind.

"It was his goal to qualify for the state meet and run his best," said East Grand Forks Head Coach Kristy Aune. "With the tight corner off the start, the hills, and the number of runners all within a few minutes of each other it is hard to get a personal best. Andreas is a great kid who has worked hard and sacrificed a lot of extra time driving to EGF to train with the EGF cross country team and putting in the extra miles on his own. He has been a great kid to coach, we are very proud of him.  Andreas and his family have been a joy to have around. He had a nice end to his cross country running career."

Crookston's cross country program was cut in 2000.
