Former NBA player Chris Herren shared his story with the Crookston community Wednesday evening at Kiehle Auditorium on the campus of U of M, Crookston. In front of a full crowd made up of mostly UMC students, Herren detailed his journey through drug and alcohol addiction beginning in Fall River, Mass. where he was a McDonald's All-American at Durfee High School to his seasons in the NBA to playing overseas to his struggle to get sober following his basketball career.
Now more than four years sober, Herren travels the country telling his story to high schools, colleges and professional sports teams. He said his main goal is to reach just one person at a time.
