Red Lake County Central defeated Crookston 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-12, 25-23) Thursday evening on senior night in Crookston.
Senior libero Taylor Demarais recorded 21 digs, while senior setter Katie Davidson had 15 assists and senior Kaylee Desrosier had 14 assists for the Pirates.
Junior Emily Samuelson and sophomore Brooke Heggie each had 11 kills, while Desrosier added nine and sophomore Amber Froeber had eight. Froeber and Heggie each had four blocks, while Heggie and Davidson each had four aces.
The Mustangs took the first game after the Pirates held a 12-10 lead by going on a 15-5 run to close out the 25-17win.
The Pirates claimed game two thanks to a 6-1 run early in the game to go up 10-4. Crookston didn't trail the rest of the game on their way to a 25-19 win.
Red Lake County Central jumped out to an 8-1 lead in game three and cruised to a 25-12 win to go up two games to one.
Game four was tight the whole way as the Mustangs edged out a 25-23 win.
The Pirates fall to 5-14 on the season, while the RLCC Mustangs improve to 4-17-1.
Crookston closes out the regular season on the road against Roseau on Monday, Oct. 15 and East Grand Forks Monday, Oct. 22.
