Richland County Sheriff Larry Leshovsky (luh-SHEHV'-skee) says a high school student in Fairmount who shot himself in a classroom in an apparent suicide attempt is expected to recover.
Authorities aren't identifying the freshman boy who shot himself in front of classmates Thursday. The Breckenridge, Minn., hospital he was taken to is not releasing his condition.
Classes were called off after the Thursday morning incident. The K-12 school with about 110 students was bringing in extra counselors and the sheriff's office was putting a deputy on patrol there as school resumed Friday.
