  • Women's golf: Golden Eagles in 12th of 13 teams at NSIC Championship

  • Minnesota, Crookston finished the first 36 holes of the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate  Conference Golf Championship in 12th place out of 13 teams at Madden's on Gull Lake in Brainerd, Minn.
     
    The 13 teams will resume play at the NSIC Spring Championship from April 20-21 at the Dacotah Ridge Golf Course in Morton, Minn.
     
    UMC was paced by freshman Katie Sheetz (Grand Rapids, Minn.), who shot a 92 on day two to finish with a 180-over-par to place in 22nd place in the field. Junior Jacy Christenson (Shoreview, Minn.) shot a 109 on day two to finish with a 73-over-par. Freshman Rikki Roscoe (Big Stone City, S.D.) shot a 119 to finish 88-over-par while junior Kari Bodine (Babbitt, Minn.) finished with a 100-over-par and junior Kelly Gustafson (Hermantown, Minn.) finished with a 107-over-par.
     
    Augustana finished the first two rounds in first place with a team score of 70-over-par, 50 strokes ahead of Minnesota State University, Mankato in second place. Allie Ostrander of Augustana leads the field after shooting a two-day-score of 155 and is 11-over-par. Her teammate Emily Kvidera is six strokes back at 17-over-par while Minnesota State's Tabitha Kunst and Maggie Leland are four strokes back at 21-over-par.
