A woman accused of stealing money while serving as treasurer of a Fargo roller derby team has been sentenced to 25 days in jail and ordered to repay $10,000.
The sentence handed down by Judge John Irby on Monday was harsher than what attorneys had requested. The joint sentencing recommendation had been for restitution and credit for 10 days that Louise Jauss had served on electronic home monitoring.
Irby said he didn't feel that sentence would be sufficient. His order also means the felony theft conviction will stay on Jauss' record. Her attorney is considering whether to try to withdraw her guilty plea.
The amount of money Jauss actually stole isn't known. The group initially accused her of taking about $21,000. A private auditor uncovered about $13,000 in unauthorized transactions.
