  • Blake, Royal calling it a career at American Federal Bank

  • Open house for both of them set for Oct. 16.

  •     American Federal announces the upcoming retirement of veteran Crookston bankers Percy Blake, market manager and senior vice president, and Carol Royal, personal banker and assistant vice president.
        The public is invited to an open house celebration to recognize the bankers on Tuesday, October 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at American Federal Bank in Crookston.
        Blake’s retirement date is Nov. 2.  Blake will continue to have a role with American Federal as a consultant in new business development, client retention, customer service and mentoring of American Federal Bankers.
        Royal’s retirement date is Oct. 26.
        Blake and Royal joined American Federal in 1999.  
        During his tenure at American Federal, Blake has managed the Crookston sales office and for a time also managed the Ada sales office.  Blake has provided financial solutions and business advice for ag and business clients throughout northwestern Minnesota.
        Royal began her career at American Federal as a mortgage banker, assumed a personal banking manager role and became a securities-licensed personal banker helping her clients with all of their banking, insurance and investments.
        Blake and Royal have been recognized for their outstanding sales performance at American Federal.  Both are American Federal “Ace Sales Stars” and have earned invitations to the bank’s premier recognition event, the annual Sales Star Retreat.
        Blake earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics from North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo.  Following graduation, Blake held County Supervisor positions for the USDA-FmHA in Alexandria and Hallock, Minn. and the district office position in Crookston.  He also worked as a senior lender for the former Production Credit Association in Crookston and was an agricultural lender and a Manager of Bremer Bank’s Shelly, Minn. branch office.
        Blake is a member of a number of community and ag organizations, including Northwest Educational Association, Airport Commission, Crookston Chamber of Commerce, United Way and Lions.  Blake and his wife, Colleen, who owns the Natural Look Styling Salon in Crookston, have three adult children.
        Royal began her banking career at the former Polk County State Bank in Crookston and worked in consumer lending at the former First National Bank in Valley City, North Dakota.  She launcher her residential real estate career at the former GKR Realty in Brookings, South Dakota and was a Mortgage and Consumer Lender at Bremer Bank in Crookston.
        Royal has been involved with Crookston Rotary, RiverView Health Foundation, Crookston City Planning Commission, Habitat for Humanity, United Way and is a former Crookston Chamber of Commerce president.
